The Laboratory for Computer Science Research (LCSR) is currently looking for a Student Java Spring Boot Programmer. This position will be directed in the development, maintenance, testings, documentation and cleanup of applications in Java Spring Boot. This is a programming position. This work is for the benefit of the Department of Computer Science (DCS) and the School of Arts and Sciences (SAS).
Starting: As Soon As Possible. Must be able to work Summer 2022.
Hours: Available hours to work are 9am-6pm, Monday-Friday. 10-15 hours of work per week are required during the school semester. 20-40 hours of work per week are available during the holidays, winter and summer breaks.
Wage: Between $15-20/hr depending on skill set.

Daily Responsibilities:
- Play an important role in the ongoing design, development, testing, maintenance, and support of Java Spring Boot applications.
- Potential applications are related to administrative applications for the department.
- Feature and Bug Issue Tracking
- Participating in Code Reviews and other Meetings
- Debugging, enhancing, optimizing and refactoring pre-existing code
- User Interface and Experience Design
- Documentation

Required Qualifications:
- Experience using an Object Oriented Programming Language
- Web Development and Front End Programming
- Code version control and workflow
- Development in a Linux OS environment
- A Plus
- Experience with a backend framework
- Experience with a database
Preferred Qualifications:
- Java Spring Boot application development (MVC architecture)
- Git/Github for source code version control and collaboration
- HTML5, CSS, DOM
- Javascript, NodeJS, React
- MySQL Database and SQL
- Experience with NGINX, Docker
- XML and JSON
- BASH Shell Scripting
Currently, work will be performed remotely. You must have the ability to do so by providing your own computing equipment and internet connection in order to connect to the on-site work resources. You must have the ability to video conference. You must have a distraction free physical environment to perform your work.
If Rutgers offices re-open this summer, applicants who can work in our offices on Busch Campus will be preferred.
