Sometimes, things happen, and you must reset or change your password. Here are a few options you can follow when you forget your password.<\/p>

Did you forget the CS Password?<\/b><\/summary>

If you are attempting to log into the CS Linux machines,
– For Students<\/strong>:
Since January 2025, your password is the same as your NetID password. If you forgot it, please reset your password on the netid.rutgers.edu<\/a> website. Existing accounts may choose to use a CS password or NetID password.<\/p>

– For Faculty\/Staff<\/strong>:
please reset or activate your account at https:\/\/services.cs.rutgers.edu\/accounts<\/strong><\/a><\/p>

The CS password may be reset if you still have your Rutgers University NetID password.<\/p><\/div><\/details>

Did you forget both the CS password and the University NetID Password?<\/b><\/summary>

If you forgot both your CS password and Rutgers University NetID password, you must reset your University password<\/strong><\/em><\/a> first before you can reset your CS Password.<\/strong><\/em><\/a><\/p><\/details>

Changing CS Password.<\/strong><\/summary>

If you know your CS password, you can change it:<\/p>

    1. Using a terminal session and typing kpasswd<\/code> command.<\/li>
    2. Using a web browser pointing to https:\/\/services.cs.rutgers.edu\/accounts<\/li><\/ol><\/li><\/ol>
