NYC MS and HS admissions use student choice data, school rankings, and lottery numbers to assign students to schools using a matching algorithm. Parents are often baffled by results they don’t understand due to lack of information. I created crowdsourcing surveys to understand the odds of matching to various schools, and wrote an explanation of the lottery process
